The Office of the Supreme People’s Prosecutor, the Ministry of Public Security and ILSTA cooperated in running a two-week Criminal Investigation Course for Lao prosecutors and police in Luang Prabang, Lao PDR, from May 16th – 27th.The training course covers a range of criminal investigation skills including case management, operational planning, surveillance, and crime scene investigation, covering theory and practice. Simulated scenarios develop participants’ critical thinking and decision-making skills, while the comprehensive modules build on their knowledge and application of Lao criminal procedure law with 30 participants in total from public law enforcement agencies successfully completed the course. Additional specialised training modules in specific areas such as drugs and wildlife are foreseen for specialised officers.
