Moot Court Training at the National University of Laos

The Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance – Luxembourg in cooperation with Faculty of Law and Political Science National University of Laos had the pleasure to welcome Dr. Heleen De Geest and Dr. Lawrence Siry to conduct a Moot Court Training at NUOL from the 4th-8th November 2019. Both have a long experience in moot court training at the University of Luxembourg. They led a 4-day course on mooting competition for students of the Faculty of Law who will take part in the Asia Pacific International Humanitarian Law Moot Court Competition.

Moot court competitions are an essential aspect of “Problem-based learning” and promote practice-relevant teaching. Students will not only develop their legal skills, but also enhance speaking and debating skills, as well as their English. All students received certificates after completion of the training.

With the support of ILSTA, Dr. Heleen De Geest and Dr. Lawrence also gave an open lecture on “Structure and Actors on International Criminal Law” on the 6th of November. The lecture was attended by more than 160 students and teachers from the FLP and NIJ.
