The Office of Supreme People’s Prosecutors and ILSTA held a workshop on Building Prosecutor’s Capacity in Wildlife Crime Prevention and Prosecution on July 11-15, 2022, at Amari Hotel, Vang Vieng District, Vientiane Province.
The 20 prosecutors from the central provinces of Laos were led through the theoretical and practical curriculum, using case studies of wildlife crime from national and international contexts, types of offences and perpetrators, CITES regulations, Lao wildlife crime-related laws, prosecution and investigation of wildlife crime, and the basic technical approaches to identify real or fake ivory and rhino horn.
