Adoption of the Law on International Judicial Cooperation in Criminal Matters in Laos

ILSTA cordially congratulates the Lao National Assembly for adopting the Law on International Judicial Cooperation in Criminal Matters, upon the 10th and last ordinary session of the 8th legislature.
Mutual legal assistance is of extreme importance in fighting organized crime and enhancing inter-institutional cooperation with other countries. The adoption of the law is an important step forward in the context of the upcoming APG evaluation. The law on judicial cooperation will offer the necessary tools for national law enforcement agencies to liaise with foreign counterparts and work jointly on countering criminal activities across borders.
ILSTA has been supporting the elaboration of the law and will continue to support and provide technical assistance to the national and regional actors, in criminal and civil matters, for an efficient implementation of the law.
