Workshop – Combatting Human Trafficking

On 27 April ILSTA organised a workshop for prosecutors and judges on the criminal law aspects of human trafficking and smuggling of migrants. The workshop took place in Paksan District, Bolikhamxay Province, and brought together 14 prosecutors, nine judges and 30 law professionals. It is the first in a series of specialised workshops that will focus on the serious crimes of human trafficking and smuggling of migrants. The workshop, delivered by Mr Richard Philippart, gave a comparative analysis of national and international law and included practical case studies on human trafficking. Also in attendance were two experts from the University of Luxembourg, Professor of Criminal Law, Mr Stefan Braum, Dean of the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance, and Associate Professor of Criminal Law, Ms Silvia Allegrezza.
